Empty Leg Flights from Brownsburg
When a jet has to fly empty to its next pickup, that seat can be yours for less than a full charter. We look for empty legs that match your route and dates, and we tell you plainly when a standard charter will serve the trip better.
What an empty leg is, and when to use one
An empty leg is a flight to reposition an aircraft. After dropping passengers in one city, the jet has to return to base or head to its next job. Rather than fly with an empty cabin, the operator sells that one-way leg for less. You get the same aircraft, crew and cabin finish as a full charter.
What you give up is control. The first customer picks the route and the departure time, and if their plans change, the empty leg changes too. That works for travelers with flexible dates, light luggage and a fallback plan. It does not work for a board meeting that cannot move or a family trip built around a wedding.
For 5 years we have matched travelers from Brownsburg, Avon, Zionsville and nearby towns to flights. Before we suggest an empty leg, we check that it really fits. When it does not, we tell you why and quote the charter that does.
What we take care of on an empty leg
- Matching your route and dates
- We check your trip against repositioning flights passing through central Indiana or a departure point close by. When an aircraft is already coming your way, we tell you the window it is flying.
- A frank check on fit
- Before you commit, we go over the risks: how firm the timing is, what happens if the first trip changes and whether a flight home is realistic. Some callers end up booking a regular charter instead, and we are glad to help with that.
- One all-inclusive quote
- The quote covers the flight we discussed, and no hidden costs show up at the FBO. You pay point to point pricing for the leg you take, never round trip pricing for a one-way seat.
- Checked operators
- FAA-certified Part 135 air carriers, the standard for on demand passenger charter, operate every flight we arrange.
- Cabin details sorted early
- We confirm the passenger count, the bags and whether the aircraft is WIFI equipped. Pets are allowed, and we check the operator's rules so your dog is welcome aboard.
Signs an empty leg suits your trip
You can move your date a day
Empty legs favor travelers who can go Tuesday or Wednesday. The more give in your schedule, the more choices you have.
You need a one-way flight
A single repositioning leg pairs well with driving home, flying commercial back or staying on for a while.
Your route is a busy one
Aircraft often reposition between popular business and leisure cities. If you are headed to one of them, a match is more likely.
You want a jet below full charter cost
On a weekend getaway or a small team trip, an empty leg can bring a light or midsize jet within budget.
When to skip it
If your departure cannot move at all, book a full charter instead. Our Light Jet Charter and Midsize Jet Charter pages cover those choices, and we can price them on the same call.
How booking an empty leg works
- 1
Share your trip
Call with your route, the dates that could work, how many are flying, bags and any pets. The more flexible you are, the wider we can search.
- 2
We search and give advice
We review current repositioning flights and tell you what is open, how firm each departure seems and whether a standard charter would be the safer pick.
- 3
Confirm and get ready
After you accept the all-inclusive quote, we go over the FBO details and departure time with you. If the original operator's schedule moves, we call to keep you updated.
- 4
Take off
Get to the FBO a little before departure, meet your crew and climb aboard. There are no terminal lines, and your bags fly with you.

What sets the price of an empty leg
Because the aircraft is flying the route regardless, an empty leg runs less than a comparable full charter. How much less comes down to a few things, and we walk through each on the call so your quote is clear.
- Aircraft size
- On a given route, a turboprop or light jet leg is cheaper than a super-midsize or heavy jet leg. The operator's base rate rises with cabin size and range.
- Demand on the route
- Legs into popular cities around holidays or big events sell close to standard rates. Slower days tend to bring lower prices.
- Timing of your booking
- Operators often adjust prices as departure nears. Holding off can save money or cost you the seat, and we tell you which direction each leg is moving.
- Changing the route
- An added stop or a different departure point turns the leg into a partial charter, which changes the price. We show you both quotes next to each other.
Common questions about empty legs
Something not covered here? (317) 588-8056
What happens if the first trip is canceled?
Usually the empty leg is canceled with it, since the aircraft no longer needs to reposition. We call you right away and can quote a full charter on the same route if you still need to go. That is why we ask about a backup plan before you book.
Can I fly home on an empty leg too?
Sometimes, but two legs running opposite directions on your dates rarely line up. Most travelers pair an empty leg with a regular one-way charter or another way home. We price that return point to point, never as a round trip.
Do I get a different aircraft or crew?
No. It is the same aircraft, crew and cabin as the original trip, held to the same operating standards as every charter we book. The only difference is that someone else chose the schedule.
When should I start searching?
Most empty legs show up between a few days and a couple of weeks ahead, once the original trip is set. If your trip is further off, call early and we will keep watch for matches.
Can my dog come along?
Yes, pets are allowed. Tell us the number and size of your animals when you call so we can make sure the aircraft and operator work for them.
